Soft, muted tones for open plan Shaker style kitchen, living, dining space
Liz and Simon Burleton from Hampshire had struggled for some time trying to decide to either refit their existing kitchen orto extend tocreate a lighter, more spacious area. There were a number of things on Liz’s wish list which Beau-Port planned into the new space.
“We are so pleased that we decided to extend and to have Beau-Port todo the kitchen design and fit. One of the many things that I love about my new kitchen is the way that Mark has designed it with everything so easy to hand when preparing meals and cooking. The way that he located the large fridge, a separate large freezer and a large larder unit close to the central island, which also has a handy sink, with lots of storage in the island so that I have everything I need isallin one area,” commented Liz.
“Simon and I visited the Beau-Port showrooms and got some further ideas including the chopping board storage unit which Mark planned into the central island space. We liked his clear ideas and his 3D design gave us a much better view of how the finished kitchen would look. He is a great problem solver and came up with really good ideas, visiting us a number of times to make sure that his design was just right for our family and how we wanted to use the space,” said Liz.
The kitchen, dining, living area was a big space to fill with a vaulted ceiling and lots of light coming from above and from the large doors overlooking the garden, so the cherry red Falcon 1092 Continental induction range cooker and the Farrow and Ball colours on the kitch-en furniture, painted in Pavillion Grey on the island and Old W hite onthe wall furniture created the additional warmth that Liz was look-ing for. “I just love the soft toned colours of the units that I chose from the colour chart display in the Beau-Port showroom. They are very easy on the eye, very calming yet warm,” continued Liz.

The colour of the granite worktop on the central island is also a favourite of Liz’s andis Blanco Stellar. The other worktops in the kitch-en are in Longstave oak which extends along to the bespoke dresser unit close to the dining area, with an oak wine rack on the dining side of the island, with the oak complementing the ceiling joists, beams and the wooden doors. “We also like the console table that Mark designed which also has anoak top andis painted to match in with the kitchen,” said Liz. The bespoke dresser is tongue and groove panelling, with oak shelves and glass cupboards, providing perfect storage for the dining area, and for entertaining. The Shaker style kitchen is constructed in half in-frame design with oak drawer boxes, with built-in appliances by Bosch including the fridge, freezer, dishwasher and canopy extractor hood and a Franke sink sits conveniently in the kitchen’s central island.
“We are very, very pleased with our new kitchen,” commented Liz enthusiastically. “It is excellent, absolutely brilliant. Everyone who sees it is very complementary and we feel we made a good choice by using Beau-Port. Nothing has been an issue and we found Mark and his fitters really pleasant, nice to work with and do a great job. Plus Mark is so calm and very level headed and understands the stresses of having building works going on. We have recommended Beau-Port to friends and they have already been to see the showroom.”
