LED lighting beneath the worktop is perfect for handle-less designs, highlighting the door and draw profiles. Floor level lighting can extend the look of the floor space or make islands and wall units appear to float. Overhead lighting should not overpower the room or cast shadows on the work spaces, centrally controlled or remote controlled dimmers change the mood and personality of the room, pendant lights over Islands add impact.
Much as we may love the smell of fresh roast coffee or baked bread its important to clear the air, to keep your new kitchen fresh. There are lots of options available, ceiling mounted extraction over and Island provides a clear line of sight as does extraction which is integrated into the hob, pop up extraction provides another option to wall hung extractor fan. Latest technology from Falmec provides extraction, air purification and light. a beautiful statement piece which requires no ducting. The perfect solution when beams and supports pose a real problem.
Bring the whole design together with the worktops and flooring. There is a long list of natural and man made options available. Stone floors and polished metal work tops in steel and copper work well in contemporary bistro and industrial style kitchens. Stone and granite are hard wearing with beautiful natural highlights and colours, Quartz is an alternative to natural stones, sparkling white quartz and other light colours will bounce light around the room. Wood adds texture and exudes a feeling of warmth. Seamless work tops can be extended into the back splash, providing clean lines with no visible joins.

Add to your wish list other items such as boiling taps, waste disposal units, multiple or multifunctional ovens and any utility requirements. Decide early what you might be prepared to compromise on should the need arise.
