Modern Kitchens - A guide to modern living and design
Modern kitchen design is the epitome of modern home design and functionality. When buying a modern style kitchen you will be getting the height of kitchen technology coupled with stunning minimalist design. This can be achieved by using very contrasting colours and textures to frame or boarder the doors and units.
At Beau-Port Kitchens we display and use modern kitchen furniture from German kitchen manufacturer Rotpunkt. Rotpunkt produce the highest quality German, modern kitchen furniture. Two of which display’s we have on display at our showroom in Hampshire.
Our newest display consists of the stunning Rotpunkt Dia range. This modern style kitchen features white high gloss doors with wild urban oak block ends. The Wild urban oak block ends act as a frame to contrast with the stark high gloss white doors, this achieves a very stunning modern kitchen design. We also used black appliances to add an extra contrast. As the kitchen was quite pale with the pale oak and white doors we used a combination of purple and lilac on the walls in Farrow & Ball colours Brassica and Calluna. This gave it a much warmer feel, but still with a modern stylish edge.
The benefits of choosing a modern kitchen design is the cutting edge features that you gain with it, be it the efficient kitchen design to the brilliant use of space though the construction and layout of the different kitchen elements. Things like the use of deep fully opening drawers instead of lots of high-level cupboards. By using these deep drawers you have easy access to all your kitchen equipment, cutlery and food at a lower level. This removes the problem of struggling to get to kitchen items placed right at the back of a high level cupboard. Also it removes the need to high-level cupboards all together as you gain so much space with using drawers. This then opens up to using modern kitchen design in smaller rooms, to enable the most efficient use of space.
Other Great features of modern kitchens are things like full height units; these can give you huge amounts of space on the end of a kitchen run. By using full height units you can get the benefits of easy access to food in larder style units and a place to have built in appliances like, fridge’s, freezers and ovens. On our latest Rotpunkt kitchen we have used a whole bank of full height units on one side, these house a pair of Liebherr Fridge and Freezer, with a Luce by Hotpoint double oven in-between. The great things about these tall units are they stand about 2 meters high so you have storage space above and below the appliances as well as the normal deep drawers. Also a lot of German kitchens can come in a handless design, for complete uniformity across all your units.
