Following a recommendation from friends the clients contacted Mark, Beau-Ports Kitchen's, Head Designer. Their new home represented the very best in modern architecture and they wanted a kitchen that was built to last and designed for living. Mark designed a traditional shaker style kitchen with a contemporary twist to complement their beautiful barn style home. The client had firm ideas how they wanted the room to work. Even though it was a large open plan space they did not want a island to dominate the room which was unusual in shape having one curved wall.
Mark designed a large peninsular which flowed around the working element of the kitchen. This effectively created a natural break between the kitchen and dinning area with out overpowering the open plan design. The high breakfast bar on the seating side of the peninsula obscured the view of the working kitchen area from the dinning area, in addition to creating a less formal place to sit, eat and catch up. The traditional painted shaker style units and butlers sink complement the old solid oak beam above the range. cooker. Quartz and Oak work tops, stainless steel power points, boiling tap, Quartz splash back and up stands give it a contemporary twist. The tight grain maple furniture was painted in Little Greene, Juniper Blue and can be repainted to reflect changing interior trends and colours. With no high level cupboards to over shadow the space Mark maximised the storage space on two sides of the peninsular unit in addition to designing and installing a walk in pantry and separate contemporary utility room which was in contrast to the kitchen dining space.
