I have always wanted a walk in larder and have just seen one that Mark has created for one of our Beau-Port clients. It is so beautifully crafted and well thought out with a design that can store just about any size of jar, bottle, or package and somewhere to put all those vegetables and fruits that don't need to be put in a fridge. Often putting certain types of fresh produce into fridges can actually do them more harm than good - mushrooms and bananas are good examples.
They created bespoke oak doors with a simple space rack hanging from the door.
So back to this exquisite walk in larder/pantry that Mark has designed and installed, large enough to step inside and be surrounded by an array of culinary goodies - olive oils, chutney jars, pasta selection, herbs and spices, jams, flours, dried foods, tins etc., and to have them all in one place - a cook’s delight.
An extensive herb and spice rack is conveniently located on the back of one doors and everything can be seen and is so easy to find. This ‘Aladdin’s cave’ of store cupboard essentials and luxuries is just a step away from the double fronted stainless steel fridge freezer, worktops and sink. It has been built within an elegant Shaker style kitchen in oak with a painted central island featuring a deep and practical Belfast sink and soft grey granite worktops throughout. Look out for our forthcoming Case Study on this project as well as more news on the new Beau-Port free-standing Pantries!
