Designing a modern handmade kitchen for an Eco home in Eversley, Surrey that had not yet been built presented and interesting and inspiring challenge for Mark, Beau-Ports chief designer. The clients wanted a contemporary kitchen that was softer than an ultra modern design and would reflect the unique qualities of their new home. Mark chose to use handmade painted kitchen furniture with solid wood detailing. Painted in Farrow and Ball Elephant Breath, a gentle neutral colour, the kitchen furniture and detailing worked in harmony with the beautiful modern exposed solid oak beam, and gave the room a timeless luxury feel. He designed the furniture to be framed with solid oak pilasters and shelves in addition to a free standing console table with a butchers block top. The kitchen island housed a small wine fridge, an abundance of storage and a seating area, making it a practical and functional statement piece.
He also designed corner seating with lift up storage, table, boot and utility room plus a home office that were not on the original plan. However, it made sense and ensured continuity and a design which flowed throughout the home. Mark gave the clients confidence because he listened to what they wanted and then interpreted their vision perfectly. Providing detailed images which were hand drawn and in digital 3D format presented a real feel for how their new kitchen would luck.
So happy with the project they have returned to Beau-Port kitchens with plans to extend their home and add to the kitchen.
